07 Dec Christmas Tablescapes – Foliage Inspiration
This Christmas I’ll be hosting a dinner for family at my home. Our usual tradition has been non-formal buffet style dining. This year I decided to do it differently and create a beautiful Foliage Inspired Christmas Tablescape. Below are some images of the mockup I created including the items used to create this table setting.

Items You’ll Need
These plates are great for decorating only, you can place your bread on top of a cloth or to place ornaments/floral arrangements. Can be purchased at Walmart.
Use any thick strings, bows or twines to wrap around utensils to make it look more festive.
You can find these inexpensive candle holders from the Dollar Store. These ones have the words 'Faith, Love, Believe' written all over and are great for placing on the Candle Holder Centerpiece.
Use these as backdrop for your existing plates, whether you're using ceramic or paper plates, give them a festive look by placing them on top of these charger plates.
This centerpiece instantly makes your dining table beautiful. This one I purchased at Winners in Canada. You may also find some at other department stores like Walmart, Marshalls, Home Depot, Costco or Wayfair. There's also lots of DIY posts you can find on Pinterest if you're looking to give it a more personal touch.
These pinecones usually come in a bundle, pre-decorated or plain and can be scented or non scented. They're perfect for throwing into a decorated bowl, vase as well as scattering around your dining table. The picture seen here is a bundle I purchased at Homesense Canada. There's lots of places that sell similar: Walmart, Canadian Tire, Marshalls, Michaels as well as Bed Bath and Beyond.
This duo lighted angel is battery operated and perfect for any tabletops. Mine was purchased at Target a few years ago but you can find other styles at Walmart.
These battery operated string lights gives your project a beautiful illuminated touch. They are available in mixed colors or plain white lights. I wrapped mine around a vase filled with scented pine cones.
A beautifully decorated tablerunner is the focal point of your table. Here you can lay out your decorations, bread, wine, etc. I bought mine at Homesense and they come in different sizes, depending on the length of your table. You can find them at most department stores like Walmart and Target also.
I've included a fake floral arrangement in my vase to give it a bit of height. You can add live ones too but would be harder to maintain with all the other decor in it. You can keep live flowers on a separate vase and just move it over on the day of your event if you prefer them over fake ones. Michael's has some great fake floral arrangements to choose from.
Dress up your table with a Christmas decorated table cloth. I purchased mine at Homesense and most department stores will carry a variety over the holidays.
Place these inside a candle holder for your centerpiece or buy large thick ones that fill the centerpiece without having to get a separate candle holder. These ones were inexpensive and I purchased them at the Dollar Store. If you want a bonus touch, buy scented ones from Bath & Body Works. I recommend getting similar scent so they don't clash with each other.
These decorative pieces can be scattered throughout the dining table for a more festive look
There are so many ways to dress up your dining table over the Christmas Holidays or for any other events. They make dining a lot more fun, festive and inviting.
